The blade is made of a special material which is then drop-forged and high-frequency treated. These are sharp cutting tools for even thin wires without spreading cutting-faces. These wire rope cutters will compress the cable while cutting to ensure the cable doesnt splay out to ensure a neat and tidy cut. This is a necessity when cutting wire rope for rigging purposes and when the wire rope needs to be threaded through a tight gap, e.g. crimp/ferrule.
